JHL Performance Horses

Our Training Goal!

Our goal is to create horses that want to work for us. We want these horses to accept
the different challenges we ASK of them, and to trust our decision. We start our training
in the round pen, working on basic ground work. After the
horse is settled in a comfort zone we include driving in the round pen and eventually in
the big arena, over logs and miscellaneous obstacles.

When the horse is responding willingly to everything that is being asked of him we
begin riding. We consistently stress safety for both horse and handler.

We assess our horses daily to see if any of our training should be changed for each
individual horse. We believe you don't make the horse fit the program, we make the
program fit the horses. We take a lot of pride in our training process. We are very
confident, and successful in our approach.

We believe that our horses should also have their own time. All our horses get pasture turn out at least 3-4 times a week..

We train and show western pleasure horses for several clients. We also coach Non Pro, Amateur and Youth riders. We enjoy working closely with all of our clients as a team to help them identify, set and accomplish their personal goals. At times, we have helped clients locate suitable prospects that are capable of achieving his or her own needs.

Our patient approach is the foundation of our training methodology. We make every effort to cultivate each individual horse's talent to the best of its ability. To us, we feel movement and a patient temperament are the most important characteristics in all the horses we train. We believe those who go on to be exceptional exhibit natural self-carriage and rhythm early on.

Learn all the techniques John uses to consistently produce quiet, cooperative horses including: Guidelines on minimizing stress and nurturing, how to instill a strong foundation while breaking young horses, techniques for maintaining proper body position nd head carriage, detailed instructions on controlling speed and achieving a quiet, slow lope and many other techniques.

Linda specializes in coaching amateur and youth exhibitors, and training all-arounders with an emphasis on hunt seat events, showmanship and longe line. She starts with ground work on the young horses which includes line driving. She wants softness and suppleness before a rider ever gets on the horse. Line driving teaches this as well as self carriage, confidence and trust.
